Steps and sleep from Apple Health
Your daily step count and how long you slept add to your city, sent from your iPhone. Daily totals only: no heart rate, location or anything else, and only with your consent.
Steps and sleep from your phone are part of full access (a Founder's Pass); the manual check-in works on every plan.

What earns XP
- Steps1 XP for every 200 steps, up to 75 XP a day (15,000 steps).
- Slept 7 hours or moreCounted for the day you wake up.+60 XP
- Slept 6 to 7 hoursCounted for the day you wake up.+30 XP
- Quests“Walk 6,000 steps” and “Sleep 7 hours” can be among the day's quests.+40 XP
- WorkoutsNo XP of their own. A habit you link to workouts (any workout, or one of at least so many minutes) ticks itself and earns its usual 30 XP.
If more than one route sends the same day, the highest total counts, once, so a resend never counts twice. Days before you turn it on earn nothing.
Connect Apple Health
With the iPhone app
- The Done City iPhone app is in testing and isn't on the App Store yet. Until it is, use one of the routes below.
- In Settings › Health, read what you're agreeing to, agree and tap Continue.
- Apple's Health sheet then asks which data to share: steps, sleep and workouts. Share what you like; the app sends the day's figures in the background.
With Health Auto Export
- In Done City on the web, open Supply Lines, tick the consent box and choose Turn on Health.
- Copy your private ingest URL. It's shown once; you can make a new one any time, which stops the old one.
- In Health Auto Export (its Premium plan), add a REST API automation to your URL: JSON, Summarize Data on, grouped by Days, with Step Count and Sleep Analysis, and Workouts if you link a habit to them.
With an iPhone Shortcut
- Turn on Health in Supply Lines and copy your private URL, as above.
- In Shortcuts, make two personal automations: one at 21:30 that posts today's steps, and one at 10:00 that posts last night's minutes asleep, each with Get Contents of URL. Supply Lines shows the exact text to send.
No iPhone? Check in by hand
- On Today, tap Slept 7h+ or Slept 6–7h, and a steps band from 2,000+ to 12,000+. Once a day each, on any device, on every plan.
What it reads, and what it doesn't
Reads
- Your step count for each day.
- How many minutes you slept each night. Time in bed or awake isn't counted.
- How long each day's longest workout lasted, so a habit linked to workouts can tick itself.
- Up to the last 7 days, so a day your phone missed still arrives.
Never
- Heart rate, location, a workout's type or route, or any other health data
- Share health data with Neighbours, teams or AI apps
- Read anything before you give consent
Steps, sleep and workouts are health data, so nothing is read until you give explicit consent. Withdraw it in one tap in Supply Lines or the app's Settings › Health: your stored figures are deleted and taken out of your city's history, and your URL stops working. XP you've already earned stays. More in the privacy notice.
Questions
- Does Done City work with Apple Health?
- The Done City iPhone app reads your daily steps, sleep and workouts from Apple Health once you allow it; it's in testing and not on the App Store yet. Today, Health Auto Export or a Shortcut can send the same figures from your iPhone. It's a beta.
- Why is it a beta?
- The XP for steps and sleep are starting points that may change as we learn from the people using it, and the routes from the phone are new. Anything you earn stays earned.
- Does it read my heart rate or location?
- No. Only a daily step count, the minutes you slept and how long each day's longest workout lasted, nothing else.
- Does it work with Android or other wearables?
- Not yet. Health arrives from an iPhone (the app, Health Auto Export or a Shortcut), or you check in by hand on any device.
- Is it included in the free tier?
- Sending steps and sleep from your phone is part of full access (a Founder's Pass). The manual check-in on Today works on every plan.
